Chapter 43. Arrested!
Police had taken Cat away in handcuffs following the immediate call placed by another guest who wanted to check in. Cat was still trying to lock the door of her car when she caught sight of Cat driving a knife through the old woman’s neck.
Ruby described the incident as supernatural and pleaded with Detective Jones not to let anything happen to Cat until she figured out what made her commit murder.
‘I can’t promise that, but I could try,’ Detective Jones told Ruby.
Since the opening of the Williams Hotel, no murder had been committed. This was the first time, and it was committed by a close friend of Lacey.
Ruby was standing over the pool of the old woman’s blood, staring at it, when Monica approached from behind and whispered, “The rogue wolves must be behind this.”
Ruby glanced over her shoulder. “That’s right,” she said. Turning to face Monica, she continued expressing her curiosity. “But how could they get Cat to do their bidding?”
