Chapter 45. Standing By
ALEX’S MANSION: DESIGNATED QUARTERS
“I enjoy doing this,” Mr. Allen broke into a silly devilish laugh. He laughed repeatedly.
For the past few hours, all he had done was pump Wolfbane into Lacey’s system. There were a lot of syringes in his room. Lacey was weak and couldn’t even utter a word. She couldn’t fight through this pain anymore. She wished for death, but death couldn’t come. Her heartbeat was slowing down. She had no strength to beg Mr. Allen to stop. All her life, she had never been tortured. This was her first time, and all she could think of at the moment was death.
The doorknob jiggled for a bit; Mr. Allen froze on the spot, his eyes fixed on the door. He could hear a heartbeat from outside and was able to sniff who the person might be. “No way,” he muttered.
Before he could put away the syringes filled with Wolfbane, Alex forced himself in. His gaze was immediately drawn to Lacey, tied to a chair. She looked like she had passed out.
