“That’s when they need to be around more.” Her father answered and she chuckled in frustration.
“Yeah?” She snorted. “You and I know there’s no one coming for me that’s passing through the layers of security we’ve got outside. I don’t need someone following me around even when I sleep.”
Her father drew in breath tiredly, almost like he wanted to let her know he was tired of having that conversation with her.
“Liana…” He tried to say something but she cut him short, something she or anyone never really dared to, but she was fed up already.
“I know what this is,” She laughed without humor. “This isn’t about my security, is it? You don’t trust me. You don’t trust that I’ll see through with our agreement and that’s why you’re doing this. That’s why you’ve got these people following me around. You think I’ll leave…” She trailed. It all made sense now.
Her father might not have actively been in her life, but yet he knew her so well. She really wasn’t planning
