Gray had insisted the rest of us go home and rest. He took it upon himself to take care of Madison in the hospital.
His mother even came to visit and apologized to Madison for her son’s incompetence. We all tried to convince her that it was not Gray’s fault but she stood on the fact that he shouldn’t have allowed her to walk home alone at night.
We eventually gave up and let her have the last word.
The moment Lucas and I stepped into the house, the exhaustion hit me like a wave. The long flight, the emotional crash at the hospital, everything just made me want to collapse and sleep for a whole 24 hours.
But Lucas barely made it past the living room before his phone started blowing up with calls. That’s what happens when you run your company and there’s high demand for your attention.
He sighed as he loosened his tie. “I have to attend to these,” he murmured.
