“Some years ago, you were training to fight for your life. Now you are going to be doing a greater good by signing up,” he said. Though he looked proud, there was an underlying note of warning in his voice.
I was still confused. Okay, I was training for my own protection even though I wasn’t told who I was to defend myself from, but how does my going to see this unknown group mean I’m doing a greater good? Questions were running through my mind.
“Who are these people that I’m supposed to meet?” I asked expectantly.
