Chapter 5

Margot stared at her daughter with fear in her heart. They all were trying to ignore the dreams, hoping they would eventually go away. She even speculated that it might be harmless. But what her daughter just told her made her hackles rise. Maybe they needed to make more findings.

“You’re sure? It felt like someone touched you?” she asked her daughter.

“Yes, Mama. I know it sounds crazy, but it’s true. I couldn’t smell anyone, and nothing seemed out of place, but I swear something touched me. You have to believe me,” Selene explained desperately. Margot could see her daughter was troubled and scared. She held her in her arms and whispered words of love to calm her down.

“Shhhh, Pumpkin. It’s alright.” She stroked her fingers through her hair. “I believe you. I’ll always believe you. I’ll speak to your father, and we’ll try to find a more powerful witch that can help us. You’re safe. I’ll keep you safe,” she promised her daughter.
