Chapter 23. A Life No One Wants

Brendon opened his mouth and closed it again. He went over to the table and poured himself a brandy. Then he went back to his father.

"Look... I've heard and seen a lot of crazy things, but this... Wow! Can you prove to me that this information is authentic?"

Ivan pointed to the glass in Brendon's hand.

"This has no effect on you. Ordinary alcoholic drinks don't affect us."

Brendon smiled.

"Then we should do a DNA test, Ivan. I felt slightly light-headed yesterday while drinking a cocktail. It wasn't drunkenness, but it was the closest I've ever come to it. A single cocktail demolished your argument."

"Did you try the cocktail I gave Olav to prepare in the restaurant kitchen?" Ivan laughed when he saw the surprise in his son's cold eyes. "Olav told me about your meeting. I... He knows we're not human."

"Olav knows?" Brendon almost spat out his drin
