Chapter 53. The Queen

The sounds of heels clicking caught my attention. But from the way Gus turned too, I think it caught him too.

A woman appeared from down the hallway, heading our way. She was wearing a beautiful bodysuit that made her look untouchable and powerful.

“Where is she?” She asked when she reached where we were. Her eyes were strikingly green and her hair was jet back, just like mine. 

Two guards were not far, standing as if they were ready to defend their queen if the need might arise.

The woman sat across from us and even though I was right there, she didn’t look at me once, almost as if I was invisible to her.

Gus stood on his feet, his body language showing that he was a bit nervous. Who wouldn’t be? “My Queen,” he said as he bowed to her. When he stood upright, he continued, “I’m here because I think we finally found your lost niece.”

That was when she finally paid mind to me. She looked by way, but it only lasted a quick second before she looked back
