Chapter 56. Pick a Side

The words of the woman echoed in my mind over and over, and I was trying so hard to make sense of them but I just couldn’t.

“My dad died fighting a war. He was a soldier for our pack.”

The Queen scoffed, hooking her coal hair behind her ears. “Oh, honey, that’s just the story they told you all. That’s the lie that they fed you all, and of course, you all believed them.”

“So what really happened?” I was intrigued, I wanted to know. This was the reason I was here, at least one of them—to know more about my mom and myself. 

Thinking about it now, I think that was why the prophetess sent me here, so I could find out the truth of it all, because she knew that my own people were never going to tell me.

“Your mom and your father fell in love. He was promised to another woman but that didn’t stop him. He planned to leave the woman to be with your birth mother. And this plan was solidified even more when he found out that you were on the way,” the woman explained.
