Chapter 12. Hadley Pleads
Benedict was sleeping on the cold prison floor when an officer banged on his cell. He bolted awake, which induced a splitting headache.
“Anderson, get your ass up! Someone already bailed you out!” the officer yelled.
He held his head to soothe the nervewracking pain in his skull. It hadn’t been that long since he got knocked out, but the pain was worse than his morning hangovers. Perhaps it was because the punches he took earlier did a number on him, or the officer was just painstakingly loud.
Benedict winced as he leaned against the wall and glanced at the officer with a little grimace. Another round of banging tortured his head when the officer hit the rails of his cell.
“Hurry up!” the officer yelled again.
Benedict slowly got up and approached the officer, whose stern eyes were glued to him, waiting for him to come out.
