I’m just worried that you might get hurt if you put too much stock in this boy and it doesn’t work out. I don’t want to see you get heartbroken.” I explained my concerns as gently as I could.

My daughter sighed. “I know, Mom. And I do appreciate your concern. But I feel like I’m old enough to make my own decisions, even if they’re not always the right ones.

I’m still learning, but I need you to trust me that I won’t make the kind of mistakes my amazing parents are scared that I will make. I need you two to trust me because I know that Father had come to inform you about my crush on Daniel.”
