Kaelan’s tone became authoritative. “My responsibility is keeping this kingdom safe. You think a pup is going to stop rogues? You think having a child will prevent the next attack?”

Jonas didn’t back down. “No. But it ensures that if you don’t survive the next attack, Crescent Moon doesn’t fall into chaos.”

Kaelan’s expression turned deadly. “Are you saying I’m going to die soon?”

Jonas held his gaze. “No one is immortal, Alpha.”

Kaelan laughed dryly. “Sorry to burst your bubble, elders, but I’m not dying anytime soon.”

The room was heavy with tension.

I cleared my throat. “Maybe this conversation can wait until after we figure out who planted the bomb. Besides, the Alpha needs to have some rest.”

Jonas nodded. “We’ll continue the investigation, but this discussion isn’t over.”

The elders nodded stiffly before turning to leave. As soon as they were gone, I heaved a sigh.
