Chapter 54. Stay Away

“Melvin.” The door opened and slammed against the wall as Andrew came into his room.

He hated when people came into his room without knocking on the black steel door. Andrew knew that. Andrew knew the rules he’d put in place for those who wished to enter his wide man-cave room.

The room was designed just before he left for college and when he returned, he’d only made a few adjustments. He still kept the sun roof and the smart bed. In place of an in-room jacuzzi, he had a depressed pit of soft pillows and cushions that could open with the automatic remote on his smart bed. He’d traded out the video game set up for an exercise bike.

“What do you want?”

“Stay away from her.” Andrew pointed at him.

“What now?” Melvin placed his legs on the dark furry rug that had the plastic head of a wolf at the end. “Can’t I have a few minutes to work in peace?”

“We both know you never work.”

“That’s not true. And I don’t want Annette as my assistant.”
