Chapter 61. Woman in His Office

The first place that Elaine went on Monday morning was Andrew’s office. She had to leave her apartment complex through the backdoor of the building, cloaked in the janitor’s daughter’s last year’s Halloween costume – a long black silk cape dress and a heavy caking of white makeup to enhance her already rose pink skin. Red long lashes framed her eyes and a thick slather of black lipstick on her lips.

In essence, she looked like a much different woman with seven inch heels and hair as dark as the gunk from underneath Aunt Megan’s cooker.

The number of journalists at the back of the building had reduced. Probably because they got bored of waiting for her to come out. She couldn’t leave the house. She hadn’t even wanted to try.

But now she had to see Andrew and explain. She had tried his line several times but all her calls had gone to voicemail and the one that hadn’t had been disconnected several times. So, the only other option was to appear at his office by herself
