Chapter 56. Decision

Andrew fidgeted in his chair. There was nothing Melvin could do to force Elaine into a marriage but he wasn’t satisfied with Elaine’s intention to stay away from his brother. Melvin seemed determined to get Elaine at all cost and that ate at him because Melvin was doing things for Elaine that he had never done for any of his previous girlfriends.

Melvin had ordered a custom made car for his first crush in middle school and then, he’d taken his first girlfriend, Clara, out of the country on their first date… using the family’s private jet. Of course, he never gave the order for the pilot to land the plane so the whole date took place on the air. But that in itself was a power move.

None of those things were as romantic as what Melvin had done for Elaine. The flowers, the wines, the dress and even setting up a private date at a restaurant. Melvin hadn’t had a serious girlfriend since the year after college… right when he started working with their grandfather.
