Chapter 57. The Red Folder
Melvin Swernbach clutched the large red folder to his side. Andrew’s interruption last night had almost messed with his mind but he had put his interaction with his brother aside and focused on his latest project.
He wouldn’t do it anymore – wait for Gwen. She wasn’t ready to see things his way but he was right. He loved her enough for both of them.
He cleared his throat as the security detail beside the faux gold wallpapered wall moved to close the door to his grandfather’s office at the Swernbach hotel.
“In a minute, sir,” the man said.
“Open this door, now.”
The man didn’t cower at the sound of his voice. Not that he expected the man to but he had to get into the office while he still had the morale, while he could still remember everything he had spent all night cramming.
“He can come in.” The secretary from behind Melvin placed the phone in its cradle. “Your grandfather is ready to see you now.”
