“I wasn’t sure you would agree to see me.” Melvin raised his head as his beautiful fiancée took the seat opposite him.
“I hadn’t wanted to come.” She sat in her chair, eyeing him. She tucked her arms underneath her lap. “But it’s not like I can go out without someone recognizing me as your fiancée. What was that stupid stunt you pulled?”
“Elaine, it was the only way.” He reached across the table for her hand but she eyed him.
“The only way to what? Ruin my life? Because you succeeded.”
“I asked you to give me a chance.” He leaned back into the white leather chair. Just as the waiter brought a tray covered by a large silver bowl.
Melvin waved the waiter off. “We’ll order later.”
“No. I’ll order now.” Elaine pinned him to his chair with her clear blue colored eyes.
