Chapter 63. Family Visit
Her phone vibrated on the mantle top but she sat on the dusty yellow sofa with her hands locked around her knees. She still had not been able to reach Presley but she had been handed a three months long suspension which didn’t eliminate the need for her to work. As evidenced by the pile of manuscripts on the small coffee table as she edited on her old dull-screened laptop.
The phone ringtone fell silent and gave room for the loneliness of the room to fill her heart.

She ran her hand through her flame colored hair before letting her head drop to her knee so that her temple was encased between both kneecaps.
“So stupid, Elaine,” she swore.
