Anita’s POV

“File a lawsuit? Are you for real, Anita?!” I heard Richard almost scream at me.

But he kept it cool.

But why was he concerned?!

“I’m gonna sue him, Richard,” I stated again.

Damien, Alvin, and Kiana had all left due to my final conclusion: with an ongoing lawsuit, Damien won’t be able to see the kids.

That was what I wanted.

“So you mean he isn’t going to even see the kids, like the kids won’t even know their father at all?” Richard asked

“They don’t need to!” I replied blatantly.

“Let me ask you a question.”

“Go ahead,” I prompted.

“Did you come from a broken home?” Richard immediately asked a question.

My eyes widened while my whole brain, for the second time that day, went into spiraling mode. It’s not the fact that the question was out of the blue; it’s the point that the question carried so much weight.
