Chapter 25
Scarlett’s POV
With that, he actually takes the swerve and allows me to do the ordering at the drive-thru, then zooms to find a good parking spot that is near enough to the benches that are on well-kept grass – maybe for security reasons in case we need to sprint or something.
“Bliss, huh?” I hear his voice pierce through me as my eyes are closed, and I just let the wind whoosh through me and take me along with them.
“You have no idea.” I giggle and take a bite out of my sandwich. “So, tell me. What made you join the FBI?” I ask casually with a full mouth. I should have asked the question before I took a bite, but he didn’t seem to care about my mannerisms.
‘Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t work on them, you pig.’ My mind rebukes me. Whatever.
“I could tell you, but then, I’d have to kill you.” He smirks dangerously. I was a little more than unnerved the first time I saw that kind of smile playing on his face. Now, it only just amuses me. Nothing more.
