Chapter 5
I went downstairs for breakfast the following morning. My parents were both seated, hands tied against each other to have breakfast. Grandma sat too, and I took the chair right next to her, but today I didn’t feel like talking to anyone.
The maid, asked by Mom to serve us all, came with a huge bowl in her hand. I brought out my spoon after being offered a plate full of Mom’s buttery pasta.
“Thanks,” I said to the maid who served me.
“You’re welcome,” said the maid.
My parents and I, along with grandma, started eating. I took out my spoon and dug into my pasta. I barely touched the food when my mom interrupted my meal.
“So, what was the issue with Daniel?” she asked.
Dad rebuked her, “Don’t!” I saw his eyes slowly telling on Mom and Grandma, too. However, my mother was so intrigued by the scene of last night that she made everyone stop eating, and they all turned to look at me.
